Lauren Shanks scored in the 54th minute Wednesday night to lift Illinois Wesleyan's women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over North Central in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament semifinals at Neis Field in Bloomington.
Shanks, a freshman out of Central Catholic High School, scored on one of IWU's 24 shots, including nine on goal. The second-seeded Titans (13-5) advanced to Saturday's 6 p.m. championship match against fourth-seeded Augustana at Neis Field.

Third-seeded North Central managed only four shots total and two on goal. The win was IWU's eighth straight and 12th in the past 13 games.
