College report 8/26/18: ISU volleyball goes 2-1 in tourney

ATHENS, Ga. — The Illinois State volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday to finish 2-1 in the season-opening University of Georgia Invitational.

The Redbirds ended with a 25-23, 16-25, 25-15, 25-16 loss to the host Bulldogs. ISU opened the day with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 win over Coastal Carolina.

Ella Francis had 13 kills for the Redbirds against Georgia (3-0) while Ali Line added 12 and Monica Miller 10. Stef Jankiewicz provided 35 assists and Courtney Pence had 34 digs. T'ara Ceasar had 22 kills for Georgia, which outhit ISU, .311 to .201.

Against Coastal Carolina, Line and Marissa Stockman led the way with nine kills apiece.
