Illinois State track and field redshirt junior J.D. LaFayette, a University High School graduate, has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Cross Country/Track and Field Second Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
LaFayette is among 10 who were repeat Academic All-America selections this year. LaFayette ealso received a CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team selection in 2015-16. He becomes the third ISU student-athlete to earn the honor this year, along with Jaelyn Keene of the volleyball program and Collin Braithwaite of the baseball team.
LaFayette maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average as a computer science major.
