Illinois State's baseball team withstood a three-run ninth-inning rally by Dallas Baptist to hang on for a 9-8 Missouri Valley Conference victory Friday night at Dallas.
The Redbirds improved to 27-15 overall and a league-leading 9-1 in the Valley. Dallas Baptist fell to 28-14 and 6-4.
Jack Butler had two hits and two RBIs for the Redbirds. Jordan Libman and Joe Aeilts also had two hits, while John Rave had a homer and three RBIs.
The Redbirds led 8-3 after five innings and 9-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Jacob Gilmore picked up his 10th save, with starter Brent Headrick getting the win.
