Joe Butler
JIM BENSON jim.benson@lee.netScott Ota's two home runs helped UIC down Illinois State, 6-1, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Curtis Granderson Stadium in Chicago.
The Redbirds (21-15) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Joe Butler's single drove in Derek Parola. But the Flames (17-13) scored in the first three innings against ISU starter Brett Wicklund, grabbing a 4-1 lead, and seven UIC pitchers blanked ISU the rest of the way.
Wicklund went four innings, allowing six hits and six runs (five earned). He struck out two and walked one.
