Ally Wiegand pitched a four-hit shutout and received home run support from Sam Berghoff and Julie Josten to lead the No. 4 nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team to a 3-0 win over No. 8 Coe and a split of a pair of games Sunday at St. Louis.
The Titans were denied a sweep when host Washington University scored three runs in the seventh to grab a 7-6 win in the nightcap.
Wiegand, a Tri-Valley High School product, struck out four and walked none while keeping Coe (17-3) off stride in the opener. Josten belted a leadoff home run in the second inning before Berghoff led off the third with a solo shot of her own.
