Tri-Valley High School graduate Jack Butler was 3 for 4 with a home run, four runs scored and four RBI on Wednesday in Illinois State's 16-9 nonconference baseball victory over Southern Illinois Edwardsville at Edwardsville.
Butler's grand slam highlighted a five-run first inning for ISU (10-5), which had 22 hits. Gunner Peterson, Joe Aeilts and Tyson Hays also hit home runs for the Redbirds, while Aidan Huggins was 4 for 5.
Connor Peplow (1-0), the second of five ISU pitchers, got the win. He allowed two runs on three hits in three innings, striking out four and walking three.
