SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Illinois State men’s and women’s track teams got off to a strong start in the Meyo Invitational indoor meet on Friday, posting two individual-event wins and three ISU all-time top-10 performances. The meet continues on Saturday.
The Redbirds won the the women’s 4,000-meter distance medley relay thanks to Rachel Hickey, Destiny White, Hattie Plumb and Grace Beattie. Their time of 11:39.68 leads the Missouri Valley Conference this season and ranks third in ISU history.
Also winning for ISU was pole vaulter Luke Nelson, who cleared 16 feet, 6¾ inches. Teammates Ryan Ashenbremer and Kellen Kravik cleared the same height while placing second and fourth, respectively.
