TEMPE, Ariz. — Illinois State's softball team rallied within a run of No. 14-ranked Arizona State after five innings before the Sun Devils took a 9-6 victory on Thursday in the Littlewood Classic.
Shannon Felde had three hits and scored two runs for ISU, which dropped to 0-6. The Redbirds face Central Michigan and No. 4 Florida on Friday in the tournament.
ISU trailed 5-0 after four innings against Arizona State (5-1) before the Redbirds erupted for four runs in the fifth. Alyssa Wiebel and Anni Borries started ISU’s comeback with back-to-back doubles. A two-out single to left field by Emme Olson scored another run before Allison Spence's two-run double.
