Illinois State gymnasts Gabrielle Cooke and Savannah Remkus received Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) recognition for their performances last weekend as the Redbirds opened their season in Alaska.
Cooke, the reigning MIC Gymnast of the Year, was a unanimous choice for Gymnast of the Week after winning the all-around competition at Anchorage while also winning floor and vault events.
Remkus, a University High School product, won the Performance of the Week honor after capturing the beam competition at Anchorage with a career best score of 9.875.
