David Barrett has been named the women's soccer coach at Fairfield University in Connecticut after 17 years in the same position at Illinois Wesleyan.
Barrett, a native of Hadley, Mass., posted a 234-85-35 record at IWU, earning NCAA tournament bids in eight of the last nine seasons.
"It is with mixed emotions that I take the position at Fairfield," said Barrett, whose hiring was announced Tuesday by Fairfield athletic director Paul Schlickmann.
"I've loved my time at IWU and am grateful to (former athletic director) Dennie Bridges for hiring me in 2001. It's been a pleasure to call IWU home for the past 17 years.
