Illinois State's men's golf team was in fifth place out of 17 teams Monday after two rounds of the Firestone Invitational at Akron, Ohio.
Senior Trent Wallace and junior David Perkins led ISU at 3-under par 141. Both shot 72-69. Illinois State was at 4-under par 572 (287-285), while Ohio led with a 564.
Perkins and Wallace head into Tuesday's final 18 holes tied for 12th on the par-72 Firestone Country Club North Course. Sophomore Andrew O'Brien was tied for 18th at 142 (67-75).
Women shoot season best: The ISU women's golf team shot a season-best 297 in the first round of the Johnie Imes Invitational at Columbia, Mo.
