The Illinois State volleyball team cruised to its fifth straight win Friday night with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-8 Missouri Valley Conference victory over Southern Illinois at Redbird Arena.
After an opening set that featured seven ties, ISU got untracked to coast to the win before a crowd of 503.
"The rhythm was weird in the gym tonight," said ISU coach Leah Johnson. "(SIU) had a very different lineup than what we anticipated and so it took us a while to get in a groove against that."
Ali Line and Lexi Varga each had 11 kills for the Redbirds, who began the second half of the conference season by improving to 17-5 overall and 9-1 in the league.
