Illinois State junior tailback James Robinson was added to the watch list Thursday for the Walter Payton Award, which is presented to the top offensive player at the FCS level.
Robinson has rushed for 783 yards and 10 touchdowns for the seventh-ranked Redbirds, who face No. 1 North Dakota State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
Robinson has reached the 100-yard mark in four of ISU's past five games and had a career-high 202 yards in last week's win over Southern Illinois. He is among 12 runners in Redbird history to attain the 2,000-yard career milestone.
