The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team used big innings to come from behind in both games to sweep host Carthage, 11-7 and 14-10, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin slugfest on Sunday in Kenosha, Wis. The Titans improved to 13-10 overall and sit atop the CCIW standings with a 6-2 conference record while the Red Men fall to 11-11 and 4-4.
IWU trailed 5-0 in game one before erupting for nine runs in the seventh inning to pull out the win. Gino Cavalieri went 4 for 6 with two RBIs to pace the Titans. Mike Plecki, Tim Smyk and Brian Johnson also drove in two runs each to make a winner of starting pitcher Sean Coonan (2-1).
