ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands — Jarron Cumberland scored 23 points as Cincinnati rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat Illinois State, 66-65, in a Paradise Jam first-round game Friday at the Sports and Fitness Center.
ISU led 59-49 before the Bearcats went on a 15-4 run to take a 64-63 lead on Tre Scott's dunk with 34 seconds left.
Matt Chastain scored on a dunk off a Ricky Torres feed with 20 seconds left to give ISU a brief lead before Cumberland scored on a drive with eight seconds left.
Zach Copeland missed a 3-pointer with about two seconds left.
