CHICAGO — Sophomore Chase Walker was an unstoppable force for the Illinois State basketball team Wednesday at Credit Union 1 Arena.
Walker scored a career-high 31 points and Malachi Poindexter drilled a critical, go-ahead 3-pointer as the Redbirds squeezed past Illinois-Chicago 81-79.
Walker, who also grabbed nine rebounds, connected on 10 of 14 shots from the field and 10 of 13 at the free throw line. He also nailed two huge foul shots with 13 seconds left.
After the Flames scored to move within one, Poindexter split two free throws at the four-second mark.
