CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Senior Jordyn Bruce shined on day one of the Jack Jennett Open, winning the pentathlon with a personal-best 3,638 points on Thursday, inside the UNI Dome.
Competing in her first pentathlon of her senior campaign, Bruce finished first in the final event of the day to move up from second to first. In the final event, the 800-meter run, the Eagle River, Alaska native, recorded a time of 2:22.78, to cross the finish line nearly six seconds ahead of the next closest runner.
In addition to her first-place finish in the 800, Bruce finished second in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump, third in the shot put and fifth in the long jump to total 3,638 points, which rank her fourth all-time on ISU's top-10 list.
