PEORIA — Ever since Brian Wardle became Bradley’s head basketball coach three years ago, he’s wanted to hold a youth league on campus. That goal became a reality this month.
Wardle and BU have assumed the Heart of Illinois summer youth league previously run by Riley Gardner, who is still involved with the league’s scheduling and operations.
It takes place Monday and Wednesday nights during the month of June and is now called Coach Wardle’s Camp and Youth League. Girls play Mondays and boys on Wednesdays.
There are 70 teams entered — 36 boys and 34 girls — from third- through eighth-graders.
