ROCHESTER, Mich. – Despite leading the shot count for most of the match, Illinois State Soccer (1-2-1, 0-0-0 MVC) fell Thursday at the hands of Oakland (1-3-1, 0-0-0 Horizon) 1-0.

The Redbirds couldn't break through after Oakland struck in the 32nd minute with what turned out to be the game-winning goal from Putri Sazali. Illinois State dominated opportunities, outshooting Oakland 11-6 with shots on goal even at 3-3.

The Redbirds generated 12 corner kicks, the most for the program since the 2014 campaign. It marked just the second time since the 2021 spring season that Illinois State has generated 10+ corner kicks in a single game.
