NORMAL, Ill. – After a back-and-forth defensive battle, it would be Illinois State women's basketball (18-5, 12-1 MVC) coming out on top in a 73-70 win over Southern Illinois (8-14, 5-8 MVC) Friday night.
The win marks Illinois State's 11th straight victory as the Redbirds maintain their hold on top of the MVC standings as they await the Missouri State Lady Bears on Sunday.
Friday night saw three Redbirds finish in double figures, led by a game-high 23 points from Paige Robinson, including 14 in the second half. Robinson was joined in double figures by DeAnna Wilson (20 points) and the hero of the night, Mary Crompton, who finished with 17 points including 4-6 from three-point range.
