NORMAL — Allowing Central Michigan just six runs in Illinois State's doubleheader sweep Saturday, Redbird pitchers were both more generous and less effective Sunday at Duffy Bass Field.
The Chippewas stung ISU with seven third-inning runs with the assistance of three walks and two hit by pitches and salvaged the final game of the nonconference series, 11-2.
“They do a really good job of making you beat them. In college baseball, if you have to beat a team, it’s hard,” Redbirds coach Steve Holm said. “They don’t strike out much, and they don’t make a ton of errors.
