LYNCHBURG, Va. — Illinois State's normally potent offense was held to one run Monday as the Redbirds saw their season end with two losses in the National Invitational Softball Championship.
ISU fell to Lamar, 2-1, before losing to host Liberty, 3-0, in the double-elimination event. The Redbirds, who won the NISC Regional last week in Normal, finished with a 33-24 record, their best in five years. Included was a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship.
“I’m incredibly proud of this team, especially our two seniors this year (Jordan de los Reyes, Annie Heineman),” ISU coach Melinda Fischer said.
