EVANSVILLE, Ind. — In these days of high-octane offenses in college basketball, it’s almost nostalgic to watch Evansville play.
Like Bob Knight’s Indiana teams of yore that featured motion offense and hard-nosed half-court man-to-man defense, the Purple Aces still adhere to that old school template with a few modern wrinkles thrown in.
At 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ford Center, Bradley will get an up-close look at the system run by the Aces’ 11th-year coach Marty Simmons, who absorbed the style in the 1980s when he played for Knight at Indiana and Knight’s former assistant, Jim Crews, at Evansville.
