ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Fourth-year junior Jack Anderson was named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week following his performance against SIUE, the MVC revealed Monday.
Anderson tossed a seven-inning one hitter in a 12-0 run-rule victory over SIUE on Tuesday, April 27. He conceded a second-inning single and two walks in the contest but induced a pair of double plays to face one above the minimum. Anderson recorded four strikeouts in the team's second shutout of 2021.
Anderson's seven-inning one-hitter is Illinois State's first since Steve Heilenbach on 5/1/2013.
The honor is the Redbirds' first MVC weekly accolade of 2021.
