PEORIA — The first time walk-on hopeful Jimmy Gavin worked out with the Bradley basketball team in the fall of 2012, he had a day to remember.
The 6-foot-2 guard from Arlington Heights started raining 3-pointers in a team scrimmage. Coach Geno Ford couldn’t believe his eyes.
“That’s how I got a spot on the team,” Gavin said.
It didn’t turn out to be much more than that, though, as Gavin played a bit role in just 10 games for an 18-17 BU team that reached the CIT third round. He ended up transferring to Division II Wisconsin-Parkside after that season with no hard feelings.
