PEORIA — After a promising freshman season at Bradley, guard Antoine Pittman took a step backward his sophomore year.
The turnovers and missed shots piled up at an unacceptable rate. Although his scoring average dropped from 8.6 to 5.6 points per game, Pittman’s lockdown defense kept him in the lineup.
When his junior season began a year ago, it became clear the offensive issues were not resolved. With the Braves’ improved depth at guard, despite his defensive prowess, the Rockford native had fallen out of the rotation.
Whatever he was giving Bradley on defense was often cancelled out and then some with shaky offense.
