PEORIA —Elijah Childs played like he had something to prove Saturday at Carver Arena in Bradley’s 90-56 home opener rout of IUPUI.
Finishing with 23 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, the biggest thing he proved was he can come back quickly from a subpar performance.
In the season opener Tuesday at Saint Joseph’s, Childs was held to 11 points and five rebounds, all of them offensive boards. He was scoreless in the final 10 minutes during a stretch when his team needed his offense.
But Saturday was a much different story. Childs was assertive on both ends, scoring 14 of the Braves’ first 32 points and grabbing eight rebounds by halftime.
