CHAMPAIGN — Illinois men's basketball had two chances to regain its lead in the final 90 seconds of Tuesday night's Gavitt Tipoff Games showdown after Ayo Dosunmu picked Georgetown forward Greg Malinowski's pocket for his second steal of the game.
A missed layup and a missed three-pointer by Kipper Nichols followed. The Hoyas answered by running off seven straight points to close out their 88-80 victory.
Dosunmu took the blame."I told (Nichols) the shot he missed was my bad," Dosunmu said. "I didn't put the ball right where I should have put it at. I should have put it in a place for him to knock the shot down.
