Whitney thrives as role expands

WESTFIELD, Ind. — Kahlil Whitney left Chicago and Solorio Academy after his freshman season, transferring to New Jersey powerhouse Roselle Catholic. And the 6-foot-7 wing has had plenty of success with the Lions.

Whitney helped lead Roselle Catholic to a 29-4 record this past season, and the Lions won both the Non-Public B title and the New Jersey Tournament of Champions crown.

Playing alongside five-star, LSU-bound McDonald’s All-American big man Naz Reid, Whitney averaged 13.6 points and 4.3 rebounds during his junior season.

But for all his success on the east coast, Whitney has returned home this spring and last to play on the Nike EYBL circuit with Mac Irvin Fire.
