LAHAINA, Hawaii — Illinois recruited Talen Horton-Tucker long enough to know what the former Simeon standout was capable of Tuesday afternoon in the consolation semifinals of the Maui Invitational.
Knowing what he might do and stopping what he might do, though, are two different things. The Illini struggled mightily in the latter.
Horton-Tucker — once considered a serious Illini lean before his recruiting experienced an abrupt 180 change that landed him at Iowa State — dominated every aspect of the second half to lead the Cyclones to an commanding 84-68 victory in front of another sellout Lahaina Civic Center crowd.
