CHAMPAIGN — Illinois held Quinn Snarskis out of Thursday night’s series opener against Nebraska.
The junior righthander was experiencing elbow soreness — a minor affliction — but having the Illini baseball team’s No. 1 starter 100 percent healthy for next week’s Big Ten tournament is more important than getting him one final start in the regular season.
That left the matchup with the Cornhuskers to more of a committee approach. Cyrillo Watson got his sixth start of the season — but his first in the Big Ten this spring — before giving way to what’s been a solid Illini bullpen.
