URBANA — Although Sunday's forecast calls for rain, the eighth annual Urbana Grand Prix bicycle race will still go on.
"The only thing is if it's tornado stuff," said race director Mark Swartzendruber. "That would put things off."
The streets that make up the race course — Broadway Avenue from Park Street to Stebbins Drive and Park from Broadway to Central avenues — will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to accommodate the event. Cyclists will ride a 1.6-mile-long circuit that begins at Crystal Lake Park.
Pre-event registration is up from last year, Swartzendruber said, from 87 to 112 participants.
