RENO, Nev. — Ranked 11th in the nation prior to Sunday’s Reno Tournament of Champions, Illinois wrestling was a perfect 8-0 in dual-style competition.
But the Reno event was the Illini’s first tournament-style competition of the 2015-16 season. They showed they’re just as dominant in that setting as well.
Five Illini captured an individual championship in their respective weight classes, three others finished runner-up and Illinois took the team title with 152 points.
“Our team looked very solid, and we are getting better each week,” Illini coach Jim Heffernan in a release. “Still have time to figure things out as we move on.
