UI roundup: Women's hoop suffers 7th straight loss

LINCOLN, Neb. — The effort was better. But the result was the same.

The Illinois women’s basketball team dropped its seventh consecutive game, losing to Nebraska 73-57 on Sunday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

“We played really hard,” Illinois coach Matt Bollant said. “We did a great job in the first half. They had four of five shots hit the front of the rim and bounce in. We were right there.”
Illinois is now 7-8 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten. Nebraska (10-5) picked up its first conference win after an 0-3 start.

Kennedy Cattenhead led three Illini in double figures with 17 points.
