UI roundup: Three volleyballers receive honors

CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois volleyball team swept its way to an Illini Classic title on Friday and Saturday. The Illini followed up that strong start to the season by nearly sweeping the first weekly Big Ten honors.

Junior outside hitter Michelle Strizak was named Player of the Week, sophomore libero Brandi Donnelly was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week and setter Jordyn Poulter claimed her first conference honor as Freshman of the Week.

Strizak was named the MVP of the Illini Classic after averaging a team-high 4.7 kills per set and hitting .448 for the weekend.
