TORONTO — A pair of former Illini tennis players advanced to the third round of Rogers Cup men’s singles action via second-round upsets.
Rajeev Ram on Wednesday toppled 13th-seeded Lucas Pouille 6-4, 7-6 (5), while Kevin Anderson earned a 4-1 win against sixth-seeded Dominic Thiem when the Austrian retired 20 minutes into the match.
Ram will next face third-seeded Kei Nishikori, while Anderson will take on 12th-seeded Bernard Tomic.
Missouri latest to offer Finke. Champaign Central rising junior Tim Finke, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, has received an offer from Missouri.
Finke now has 15 offers, including Illinois, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Northwestern and Oregon.
