URBANA — Aleks Vukic’s three-set win at No. 2 singles on Saturday sent the 11th-ranked Illinois men’s tennis team past second-ranked Virginia 4-3 at Atkins Tennis Center.
Jared Hiltzik, Aron Hiltzik and Asher Hirsch also collected singles victories for the Illini (7-4) against the Cavaliers (8-2), the defending national champions.
In women’s basketball
Illini stumble. Chatrice White collected game highs in points (29) and rebounds (11) for Illinois on Saturday, but Iowa still came away with a 61-56 win in the Illini’s regular-season finale in Iowa City, Iowa.
Kyley Simmons added 11 points for Illinois (9-20, 2-16 Big Ten), which used a 19-6 fourth-quarter advantage to nearly knock off the Hawkeyes (18-12, 8-10).
