CHAMPAIGN — Ninth-ranked Illinois wrestling blew past No. 25 Arizona State and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Sunday at the Illini Duals at Huff Hall.
After going 3-0 at the Eastern Michigan Duals last weekend, the Illini dispatched the Sun Devils 27-9 and the Cougars 41-3.
Zane Richards (133 pounds), Brock Ervin (141), Isaiah Martinez (157), Steven Rodrigues (165), Zach Brunson (174), Andre Lee (197) and Brooks Black (285) each scored a victory against both opponents for the Illini. Kyle Langenderfer (149 pounds) and Jeffrey Koepke (184) had single wins for Illinois.
Kopinski nears qualification. Former Illini Tim Kopinski moved within a win of landing a spot in the JSM Challenger Main Draw on Sunday when he defeated Tom Jomby 6-1, 6-3 in qualifier action at Atkins Tennis Center.
