DES MOINES, Iowa — The Illinois men’s track and field team won its fourth consecutive Hy-Vee Cup at the prestigious Drake Relays, relying on two runner-up finishes Saturday to take home the hardware.
Illinois edged Texas for the title with 24 points as Mo Maat, Joe Haight, Cam Viney and Konrad Eiring placed second in the sprint medley relay with a time of 3 minutes, 23.05 seconds.
The distance medley relay team of Jesse Reiser, Joe McAsey, Bryce Basting and Liam Markham came in second to pad the Illini’s lead.
“I’m proud of this team because it’s been a year with a lot of adversity,” UI coach Mike Turk said.
