PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers promoted Sarah Baumgartner, a former Illini softball player, to deputy director of athletics.
Athletic director Patrick Hobbs announced the move Tuesday, saying Baumgartner will have oversight of the marketing, ticketing and communications departments, with a continued role in development and sport administration.
She most recently served as senior associate athletic director and chief development officer.
Baumgartner, a four-year letter winner at Illinois, has played a major role in building the university’s donor base while developing and executing a fundraising strategy to raise $100 million for new or upgraded facilities.
For the 2015 fiscal year, athletics raised $14.
