FORMBY, England — Europe led the United States 6-4 after the opening day of the Arnold Palmer Cup, but former Illini golfer Charlie Danielson had a strong showing.
Danielson and partner Zach Wright won their afternoon four-ball match 4 and 2 against Europe’s Stuart Grehan and Lars van Meijel, as Team USA won three of five afternoon matches.
Danielson and Wright halved their morning foursomes match.
Third-round singles matches were scheduled for Saturday.
