CHICAGO — It didn't come up publicly, but the investigation into allegations of abuse and racism in the University of Illinois athletic program was on the closed-door agenda of UI trustees Thursday.
Chairman Edward McMillan said the board was briefed about the claims by athletes in the football, women's basketball and women's soccer programs, but took no action. Trustees are awaiting the results of an investigation by two law firms hired by the university.
McMillan and UI spokesman Tom Hardy said they don't know yet when the investigation might wrap up but said there have been "periodic updates.
