Before he became the Voice of the Illini, Brian Barnhart called games on radio for the Anaheim Angels.
In that role, he came to know Vin Scully, the legendary broadcaster who will retire after the Dodgers play the Giants on Sunday.
“I saw Vin on a somewhat regular basis as the Angels and Dodgers played a couple of interleague series each year: one at Dodger Stadium and one in Anaheim,” he said. “They also played a ‘Freeway Series’ at the end of spring training in each park.”
