Looking for the lowdown on a high-profile trial, T.O.T.M. turned to a former News-Gazette sports staff member.

Don O'Brien is his fourth year covering courts for the Quincy Herald-Whig. He is smack dab in the middle of the murder trial of former Illinois center and Academic All-American Curt Lovelace.

Lovelace faces charges in the strangulation death of his wife Cory on Feb. 14, 2006.

Lovelace, former assistant state's attorney in Adams County, has been jailed since his arrest in August 2014 and had bond set at $5 million.

"Money is something that Curtis Lovelace does not have," O'Brien said.
