Before the start of Illinois football's training camp on Aug. 2 in Champaign, beat writer Scott Richey is counting down the Top 50 most important Illini heading into the 2019 season:
No. 43: Edwin Carter
Vitals: 6-3, 180, R-Fr., WR
Hometown: Jacksonville, Fla.
High School: Sandalwood
Looking back at 2018: Carter arrived in Champaign as a three-star prospect with the potential to add some size and speed to Illinois' wide receiver corps. The north Florida native took advantage of an early opportunity, catching two touchdown passes in his Illini debut against Western Illinois.
