Looking back at 2017: Sandy was one of Illinois' earliest commitments in the 2017 class, choosing the Illini in June before his senior season over other offers from the likes of Syracuse, Colorado State, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan. Then he earned All-Broward County first-team honors after catching 32 passes for 498 yards and five touchdowns for the Chiefs — ending his high school career as a consensus three-star prospect and the No. 147 wide receiver in the country per ESPN's rankings.
