Looking back at 2017: Lowe missed the bulk of training camp last August recovering from a torn meniscus, so the freshman tackle wasn't available until the fifth game of the season at Iowa. Lowe started against the Hawkeyes and made six more starts last fall, teaming with Larry Boyd and Alex Palczewski as Illinois' first-ever trio of true freshmen starters on the offensive line. Lowe earned BTN.com All-Freshman Team honorable-mention status for his play in his first season.

Looking ahead to 2018: The entire Illinois offensive line had a new offense and blocking scheme to learn after Garrick McGee was fired and Rod Smith hired as offensive coordinator.
