Three Illini drafted on third day

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois catcher Jason Goldstein became the fourth Illini drafted this week when he was selected in the 17th round with the 522nd overall pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon in the MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Adam Walton was selected three rounds after Goldstein. The redshirt sophomore shortstop was selected in the 20th round by the Baltimore Orioles with the 613th overall pick. Junior reliever Nick Blackburn made it six total Illini drafted when he was selected in the 22nd round (No. 659 overall) by the New York Mets.

Goldstein, Walton and Blackburn join teammates Tyler Jay, Kevin Duchene and David Kerian as MLB draft picks in the past three days.
