CHAMPAIGN — When Cam Thomas ran onto the field last Saturday at Minnesota, one of his former high school opponents wasn't at all surprised.
Nazareth Academy coach Tim Racki saw plenty of Thomas in the powerful East Suburban Catholic Conference.
"You could tell he was special," Racki said. "Just his presence and how he moved. He was playing at another level. He was extremely impressive."
Thomas played for Marian Catholic, which went 1-8 his senior year. He was not surrounded by a lot of talent. But he made everyone else better.
Racki knew Thomas could one day play in the Big Ten.
